Elbow is down with ball against Coales chest controlled through the rest of the play, touchdown? I certainly think so along with many Hokie and non Hokie fans. Virginia Tech’s Danny Coale overtime catch in the 2012 Allstate Sugar bowl ranks as one of the greatest touchdown receptions I have seen in such a critical moment. The catch was initially ruled a touchdown but overturned by the replay official as Coale looked on with disappointment on his face. The Va Tech Hokies played a tremendous game overcomes many mistakes and fighting back to send the game to overtime. The defense held Denard Robinson to a 130 yards total only giving up two big passing plays resulting in two touchdowns for the Michigan Wolverines. The offense marched up and down the field all night racking up 377 yards of offense but settles for field goal except for a late touchdown by quarterback Logon Tomas. The Hokies third string kicker Justin Myer surprised many people making 4 out of 5 field goals only missing his overtime attempt after Coale’s TD catch was overturned. Who knows how it would have turned out if the touchdown would have stood or even if Myer made the overtime field goal? Michigan could have still won the game but many Hokie fan will wonder for a long time, what if!
